Rally in support of midwives happening Saturday

A rally in support of midwives in Alberta is happening in Red Deer for the third year in a row.
The rally to celebrate the International Day of Midwives takes place at City Hall Park starting at noon on Saturday.
Organizers say the goal of the event is to demonstrate the impact of midwifery in Alberta and the need for additional funding for services.
“Midwives are in high demand, but the annual budget for midwifery services can only fund a limited number of clients for midwifery services each year,” says organizer Sarin Harrison. “Although funding continues to increase, the number of Alberta families desiring midwifery care continues to outstrip funding and new midwives graduating each year struggle to find adequate employment due to these same budgetary restrictions.”
