RDC Alternative Energy Lab opening delayed until fall

Apr 26, 2018 | 1:39 PM

The new Alternative Energy Lab at Red Deer College will be opening later than expected. But college officials say there’s a good reason as to why.

Announced last August, the $10 million facility was scheduled to open right about now. Instead it will open this fall.

However, Joel Gingrich, Dean of Trades and Technology delaying the Alternative Energy Lab was done in order to make it even better than planned.

“The building will still be substantially complete by the beginning of May, as we had targeted,” he says. “There’s some new technology we will be moving into the lab that we hadn’t even been aware of in the earlier stages of planning, so this gives us the opportunity to be able to move that in.”
