Drayton Valley RCMP weekly brief March 28-April 5

STOLEN VEHICLE, GAS AND DASH ENDS WITH CHARGES

Drayton Valley RCMP say on March 28 at 11:43 a.m. a report came in of a 2014 grey Dodge Ram being stolen off of 62 Street in Drayton Valley. The vehicle had been parked at the Lydell yard parking lot.  

Just before 2 p.m. at the Fas Gas on 50th Street a call came in of a red Dodge Ram with a motorcycle in the back filling up with gas worth nearly $200 then left without paying.  Suspect has been  identified and charges will be laid.

DAMAGE TO VEHICLE, MAN ARRESTED AFTER A BREAK AND ENTER TO BUSINESS 

On March 30 just after 1:30 a.m. on 42 Street a report came in of people yelling and someone yelling help.  A male was seen hitting a vehicle with a flat ended ice pick causing extensive damage.  Members attended and arrested male however the complainant did not wish charges.

Then just after 3 a.m. on 47th Street an alarm was received for Tri Electric and members attended and observed a male within the enclosed compound.  A short foot chase ensued and male arrested and held for hearing.  23 year old Timothy Leneveu was remanded into custody.   

In the afternoon at 4:38 p.m. on 50th Street at the Foxwood Inn a report of a 2017 Ford F 350, grey in color being stolen from the parking lot of the Foxwood Inn sometime between March 26 and March 30.  

THEFT FROM TRUCK, BREAK AND ENTER

On March 31 just after 4 p.m. a complainant located on 50th Street called in to advise Mounties that the driver’s side window of their Chev Silverado 2500 had been broken and vehicle rummaged through. 

Later on that evening at 7:08 p.m. on 45th Avenue a report of a break and enter to residence sometime between noon and 6 pm.  Entry had been gained through back window and jewellery was taken. 

MISCHIEF, DRUG PARAPHERNALIA FOUND 

Mounties say on April 1 just after midnight a report was received following a motion detector being triggered at Nexsource Power. Surveillance shows one male jumping over the fence after audible alarm went off.  Members attended and nothing was broken into.

At 11:14 p.m. at the Ramada Inn on 50th Street a report was received of drug paraphernalia being found in the main bathroom at the Ramada Inn.  Member attended and seized a meth pipe.

BREAK AND ENTERS, CHARGED LAID AFTER METH FOUND

On April 2 at 4:21 a.m. an alarm was set off at the Plaza Liquor Store. members attended and items were seized and the matter is still under investigation. 

At 4:36 a.m. a report was received of an attempted break and enter to the Poplar Ridge liquor store.  Exterior glass door had been broken however no entry was gained.  Matter is likely related to the break and enter to Plaza Liquor Store. 

A report of a break and enter to the compound at Fuson Controls was made at 7:11 a.m. after someone finding that the lock on the gate had been cut. Approximately $4000 worth of wheels and wire taken and the matter is still under investigation.

Just after 9:30 a.m. at the Aspen Motor Inn on 50th Street a report came in of two females doing drugs in a vehicle at the inn. Members attended and located the vehicle and the occupants were arrested and the vehicle was searched. Multiple packaged of methamphetamine were found and charges have been laid. 

THEFT, FRAUD

On April 3 at 8:13 a.m. on 47th Avenue a report came in off someone entering the complainant’s 2015 Ford F150 and stealing their wallet. The vehicle had been left unlocked. 

Just after 10:30 a.m. a report was received of an individual being defrauded of approximately $2,000 over the past 6 months.  A company had been claiming to have lottery winnings for individual.  Matter is under investigation.

 At 1:17 p.m. on 55th Street a report was received that someone over the past 10 days had cut the chain link fence and entered the yard and Seacan.  Several items had been  stolen including small tools and aluminum scrap metal.

FRAUD, IDENTITY FRAUD

On April 4 at 5:12 p.m. a complainant advised Mounties that they e-transferred money to buy tools off Kijiji.  They were to meet the seller in Drayton Valley to pick up the tools.  Sellers never showed up and have stopped responding.  Matter is under investigation.

At 8 p.m. a complainant attended the detachment to report an identity fraud.  They had applied for a job on line at BHNational and received an email advising they had been successful and requesting they fill out an application form which included banking information and to provide a passport photo.  They provided the information prior to realizing that it was a scam.
