Tennis bubble given five-year extension

Red Deer’s tennis bubble will be in place for another five years.

Last week, the Municipal Planning Commission approved an extension for the structure on 47 Avenue that houses four indoor tennis courts.

The extension was recommended by City administration because the current economic climate was hampering efforts by the Red Deer Tennis Club to build a new permanent structure. In 2010, the club estimated that a new permanent indoor tennis facility would cost $3 – 5 million to build.

The current temporary structure was put up in 2008 and given a five-year extension in 2013.
