Rocky Mountain House RCMP have made arrested a man in connection to an incident this week at a local gas station.

Mounties say they responded on Tuesday around 9 a.m. to a complaint about a suspicious male at the GTI gas bar on Highway 11. Upon arriving, members approached the driver of the truck who immediately attempted to flee.

He was arrested after a brief struggle. A search of the driver revealed he was in possession of a large quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine, meth and fentanyl.

RCMP also seized a large amount of Canadian currency, a weapon and drug trafficking paraphernalia from inside the vehicle.

Shane Soderburg, 40, of Bentley is facing numerous charges related to the possession of several controlled substances, the proceeds of crime and a weapon, as well as resisting arrest.

Soderburg was also wanted on numerous arrest warrants and has been remanded into custody. He was scheduled to appear in a Rocky courtroom on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

If you have information on drug trafficking in the Rocky Mountain House area, call the Rocky Mountain House RCMP at 403-845-2882 or call your local police service.
