A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for two men charged in a 2023 homicide in central Alberta.

Brandon Dean Regamey, 30, of Maskwacis, and Jaden Michael Omeasoo, 30, of Edmonton, are scheduled to find out on Jan. 6, 2027, if their case has enough evidence to go to trial.

Maskwacis RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit laid manslaughter charges following an investigation into the homicide on the Montana First Nation.

Police were called to the Montana First Nation on May 10, 2023 after a deceased male was found at a rural location.

The deceased, who was identified as Edmonton resident Ryker Dingman, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where the cause of death was deemed a homicide.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit took charge of the investigation and determined the deceased was in an alleged altercation at a residence in Edmonton and was taken to and left at the rural location on the Montana First Nation.
