Raptors star Kawhi Leonard out at least one week with left knee swelling
TORONTO — Head coach Darko Rajakovic is hoping that some of his young Toronto Raptors players will seize the moment with star forward Kawhi Leonard out at least a week.
The Raptors announced on Tuesday that Leonard will undergo treatment and rehabilitation to address swelling in his left knee and will be re-evaluated in a week.
Leonard was initially ruled out just an hour before Toronto’s 117-94 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday after he noticed the inflammation.
“When Kawhi is not playing, obviously, that’s missing a very important piece, but that opens up a lot of opportunities for other guys,” said Rajakovic after practice at OVO Athletic Centre. “It really gives us the opportunity to work on our connectivity and our togetherness. We have enough talent, we have enough on the team that we can overcome that.
