Red Deer man sentenced in local firearms and stolen property investigation

A Red Deer man charged in a firearms and stolen property investigation has been sentenced to five years in jail. 

Trent Fielder, 56, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Sept. 22, 2026, to 1,825 days behind bars but given credit for 1,115 days, leaving him with 710 days or just under two years left to serve. 

Fielder was also given a lifetime firearm prohibition after being found guilty on three counts of possession of property under $5000, make/possess identity documents, possess prohibited firearm, possess loaded/prohibited/restricted firearm, careless use/storge of firearm, and possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized. Six other counts were withdrawn.   

It was on Oct. 5, 2023, when the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant on a property in Red Deer County.
