Minister Dreeshen drives home points on QEII Highway expansion project
Alberta’s Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors says his department is cognizant of the potential environmental impacts of relocating the QEII Highway directly through precious wetlands on Red Deer’s west side.
Devin Dreeshen, also MLA for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake, said during a media roundtable on Tuesday that the deal is not yet done.
But in a clarifying statement to rdnewsNOW afterward, and in response to a question asking if the ministry is still considering any options that do not involve the park, a ministry official had this to say:
“The selected alignment is the result of multiple studies over more than a decade. The alignment design details, mitigation work, trail connectivity, and construction staging will be improved through discussions with the City.”
