Celebrate 25 years of Red Deer’s Safety City

Aug 10, 2026 | 12:32 PM

Red Deer Safety City is inviting the public to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special event on Aug. 22.

From 12-6 p.m., central Albertans are welcome to come and learn about the longstanding non-profit, which has, for a quarter-century, provided families with essential safety skills to protect themselves and their community.

Take part in fire demonstrations, play games, meet community partners, and take a tour of the Safety City Cityscape; plus, there’ll be a food truck and ice cream.

“On April 24, 2001, Safety City first opened its doors to the public in Red Deer. The focus of the Society then is as it is now: to give children, youth, and their families the knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe now and in their futures,” says Thomas Wooff, administrator.

“During our anniversary celebration, join us at the CityScape to connect with our community and showcase your longstanding support of Safety City. You are welcome to bring yourself and your families to see what your support has helped to provide to the community of Red Deer.”

Wooff says the organization estimates it’s engaged around 70,000 in programming since inception, and that doesn’t include any parents, teachers or other adults who’ve been present to take things in.

Safety City is located at 3030 55 Street (near the intersection of Hwy 11 and 30 Avenue).
