Red Deer RCMP charge four with drug trafficking and firearm offences

Red Deer RCMP have charged four people following a multi-month drug trafficking investigation.

Police say the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) received information in late 2025 regarding a group of drug traffickers operating in the city.

The initial investigation led them to identify four suspects, and over several months the investigation continued, which led them to two residences and two vehicles of interest.

On June 24, the investigation concluded when the RCMP executed multiple search warrants at two private residences in Red Deer and two different vehicles. This was accomplished by Red Deer GIS, along with the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and Red Deer RCMP Traffic Services.

As a result, police arrested four males during the operation and seized two firearms, ammunition, quantities of cocaine, Canadian currency and other items related to drug trafficking.

“This intelligence-led investigation demonstrates the Red Deer RCMP’s ongoing commitment to disrupting drug trafficking in our neighbourhoods,” said Constable Andrew Devine with the Red Deer RCMP GIS. “Removing firearms from these environments reduces the risk of violence and improves public safety.”

A 31-year-old resident of Red Deer was charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing, he was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 16.

Another 36-year-old Red Deer resident was charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm, two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to order.

Following a JIR hearing, he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 2, 2026.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old resident of Red Deer was charged with trafficking of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm, and two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm.

Following a JIR hearing, he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 16, 2026.

Finally, a 36-year-old resident of Red Deer was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm, two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm, and six counts of possession of a firearm contrary to order.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 2, 2026.
