Red Deer RCMP arrest 22-year-old man with flight from a peace officer

Red Deer RCMP have arrested a man following an incident in May where he allegedly fled from police and travelled well above the speed limit.

Police say they have charged a 22-year-old Red Deer resident with flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

This came after the RCMP initiated an investigation on May 31 after a video was shared on social media, which officers say depicted a motorcycle driver fleeing from a peace officer at an extremely high rate of speed, and committing numerous traffic violations.

Police say the investigation unveiled that on May 26 the suspect, while driving a motorcycle along 67 Street in Red Deer, was reportedly tracked on radar by a peace officer travelling at 173 km/hr in a posted zone of 70 km/hr.

The driver was also carrying a passenger and fled from the peace officer.

The Red Deer man was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Aug. 18, 2026.
