Red Deer home sales decrease in May

The total number of house sales in Red Deer decreased in May

According to the latest market update by the Central Alberta Realtors Association, there were 161 houses sold in May, down from the 170 sold in April and down from the 185 sold in May 2025.

The year-to-date numbers unveiled that there have been 676 house sales in Red Deer through the first five months of 2026, compared to the 736 during the same time last year.

Meanwhile, the average sale price in Red Deer in May was $403,024, down from the $423,267 reported in April. In May 2025, the average sale price was $400,782.

The number of average days to sell in Red Deer in May was 33 days, which is unchanged from April. During the same month in 2025, the average days to sell were 29.

In central Alberta, there were 506 home sales in May, down from the 641 sold in the same month last year. It was also an increase compared to the 453 home sales in April this year.

Year-to-date numbers in central Alberta show there have been 1,937 home sales in the region in 2026 so far. This is an overall decrease compared to the 2,167 reported in the same time frame last year.

The average sale price for a home in central Alberta was $441,669 in May, an increase compared to the $431,858 in May 2025 and a decrease from $464,344 in April this year.

And the average days to sell in central Alberta in May were 45, compared to the 47 days reported in April.
