Update on capital planning and school projects

In the monthly capital report, the division explained St. Veronica Catholic School, a Kindergarten to Grade 5 school in Blackfalds, is set to open in the fall of 2027.

Meanwhile, the new high school in Sylvan Lake is in the planning phase and that no set date for completion has been determined.

“Design and construction would be the next phase, and RDCRS continues to work collaboratively with Chinook’s Edge and the town of Sylvan Lake to ensure our site is ready for the next phase,” as stated in the capital report. “The move to the design and construction phase will occur when the Ministry is satisfied that the site achieves all necessary requirements to begin, and the Ministry provides a funding letter.”

In addition, the division explained the following maintenance projects will take place throughout the summer:

Camille J. Lerouge – washroom renovation
Camille J. Lerouge – boiler rebuild
Camille J. Lerouge – design consultation for building envelope improvement
St. Dominic – roof replacement completion
St. Elizabeth Seton – roof section replacement
Holy Trinity – administration suite re-configuration
St. Joseph – classroom reconfiguration
St. Joseph – fire alarm panel replacement
St. Lorenzo Ruiz – personal care room construction
St. Lorenzo Ruiz – asphalt and concrete work
St. Lorenzo Ruiz – exterior window film
St. Patrick’s – asphalt curb installation
St. Patrick’s – roof section replacement
St. Marguerite Bourgeoy’s – blower motor replacement
St. Teresa – sound dampening project
Notre Dame – east field irrigation system
Multiple Schools – upgrade to paging systems and A/V equipment in Gymnasium
Montfort Center – installation of additional power receptacles
