Red Deer RCMP have charged three youths following an alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl.

On May 4 at 12:54 a.m., the police responded to multiple 911 calls asking for assistance in the Oriole Park neighbourhood. Police say they received reports of gunshots and a female voice screaming for help in the area.

Once on scene, RCMP General Duty (GD) members found a 15-year-old girl who had been severely assaulted.

Those members, along with Red Deer RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS), Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and Red Deer RCMP Forensic Identification Section (FIS), then began investigating.

As a result, three youth suspects, a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl, all from Red Deer, were located and arrested a short time later.

The victim, police say, had serious non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The 15-year-old boy has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a release order.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old girl and the 14-year-old boy were each charged with aggravated assault.

Following Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearings, the female and the 14-year-old male were released with conditions to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 28.

The 15-year-old male was remanded into custody to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 7.

The RCMP says since all involved are youth, no more information will be disclosed.
