Lacombe’s Daxon Rudolph has been named the Western Hockey League Player of the Month.

The 18-year-old defenceman, who plays for the Prince Albert Raiders, scored six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 10 games in April.

Rudolph and the Raiders are in the midst of a 2-2 tie with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the best-of-seven WHL Eastern Conference Championship Series.

Rudolph was ranked fifth among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings for the 2026 NHL Draft.

Standing at six feet two inches tall, the right-shot blueliner has been a force for the Raiders, including three multi-point performances in April.

Most recently, he delivered a four-point game on Wednesday in a 6-3 victory to even up the series.

So far in the postseason, Rudolph has recorded eight goals and 11 assists in 13 games, which has earned him a tie for the lead in WHL playoff scoring with Matias Vanhanen of the Everett Silvertips.

Rudolph, who’s one of the top prospects heading into the upcoming NHL Draft, has also notched three game-winning goals so far in the playoffs.

In the regular season, he registered 78 points in 68 regular-season games, which was third among all WHL defencemen in scoring.

He was named to the WHL Eastern Conference First All-Star Team for his performance and is also a finalist for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, presented annually to the WHL Defenceman of the Year.

This season, he represented Team CHL at the 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge and also captained Team East at the 2026 WHL Prospects Game.
