Red Deer RCMP have arrested two men in relation to thefts of an e-bike and a truck in the community.

Police say on April 7 at 7:53 p.m., the RCMP received a report of a stolen e-bike from the Bower area.

That day, two men were seen on video surveillance loading the bike into the back of a white pickup truck.

The RCMP identified one of the men in the video and later witnessed him riding the bike in the Highland Green Area. The man ultimately evaded police.

However, further investigation by the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team led police to the Oriole Park area, where the white pick-up truck was found with the bike in the back.

The driver of the truck, Mounties say, was identified as the second suspect in the bike theft. As a result, a 32-year-old man attempted to flee on foot from police.

The bike and truck were then recovered by the police. The truck had been previously reported stolen out of Airdrie.

He was charged with possession of property over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of property under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving without insurance, driving a motor vehicle while suspended, and possession of a controlled substance.

He was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 10, 2026.

Meanwhile, on April 10, the Red Deer RCMP CRT observed a vehicle driving recklessly through the city, and the driver was identified as the initial suspect in the investigation.

RCMP sought warrants and continued attempts to find the man.

Five days later, the Crime Reduction Team arrested a 40-year-old Red Deer resident with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), and Alberta RCMP Air Services.

He was charged with possession of property over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of property under $5,000, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving without insurance, two counts of operating a conveyance while prohibited, and operating a conveyance dangerous to the public.

He was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 29, 2026.
