The U18 AAA Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs have advanced to the gold medal game at the 2026 Esso Cup.

On Friday, they erased a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Northern Selects 7-4 in the semifinals at the U18 Women’s National Club Championship tournament in Dieppe, New Brunswick.

The undefeated Chiefs will play for the gold medal and the national title on Saturday, April 25, at 3 p.m. Mountain Time. They’ll play either the Moncton Rockets or the Stoney Creek Sabres and the game will be broadcast live on HNLive.ca and TSN.

Tied 4-4 in the third period, Red Deer defenceman Bailey Rogers scored to give the Chiefs the lead. Jensyn Stephenson then added an empty-net goal before Olivia Stewart scored one more to put the game out of reach.

Bria Hull, Macy Morrison, Reece Lacina, and Stephenson also scored earlier in the game for Red Deer.

All four of the Selects’ goals came on the power play and were scored by Kate Morrow, Laila Burris, Hali-Rose MacLean, and Carrie Doiron.

In net, Red Deer’s Brylee Hull made 25 saves on 29 shots and Selects netminder Amy Field made 29 saves on 35 shots.

The Chiefs have recorded a perfect 6-0 record in the tournament so far, beating As de Quebec, the Moncton Rockets, Winnipeg ice, Northern Selects (twice), and Stoney Creek Sabres.
