Two men from central Alberta have been arrested after they fled from police in Oyen.

The Oyen RCMP say on April 20, officers responded to a residence after a concerned resident reported that two people were on her property unlawfully.

When Mounties arrived, the two suspects fled on foot but were caught nearby and arrested with help from neighbouring detachments, Alberta Sheriffs, and residents.

Police recovered multiple items as a result of the investigation, including a truck that was stolen in Stettler, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, jaws of life, a slip tank, and a quantity of substances suspected to be methamphetamine and cocaine. They also recovered numerous stolen items and break-and-enter tools.

As a result, a 33-year-old Stettler man was charged with 13 offences and a 35-year-old man from Lacombe was arrested on outstanding warrants from the Lacombe Police Service.

The Lacombe resident was also charged with 15 offences, including break and enter to a residence, mischief over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of a controlled substance.

The Stettler man was released on an Undertaking for court on June 24, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna, Alta.

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, he was remanded into custody to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on May 1, 2026.
