Care for Newcomers launches newcomer employment initiative
Care for Newcomers has launched a new initiative funded by the provincial government that aims to help employers hire, attract, and retain skilled newcomer workers.
They’ve launched a two-year project called Building Employer Capacity for Newcomer Integration, which is meant to help businesses remain competitive in a changing labour market and boost newcomer employment in the region.
“While many businesses are eager to hire newcomers to address labour shortages, challenges with onboarding, communication, and workplace integration can impact retention and performance,” as written in a media release. “Research highlights that many small and mid-sized employers lack the HR capacity and systems to fully support a diverse workforce.”
As part of the project, a Workplace Integration Advisor will work directly with employers to assess needs and provide tailored strategies with practical solutions that build long-term capacity.
