Mar 25, 2026 | 12:35 PM

The Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section made multiple arrests for drug trafficking following an investigation that went on for months.

Police say they received information in early January that prompted their investigation.

From there, they determined three suspects were trafficking drugs as a group in Red Deer.

On Jan. 28, 2026, they arrested one suspect in the back alley of a residence and another on March 3 at a parking lot in the north end of the city.

The third suspect was arrested during a search warrant at a residence in Chestermere, Alta. on March 12. Red Deer GIS, with help from Chestermere and Strathmore RCMP, made the arrest.

As a result of the search warrant, RCMP seized cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone pills, over $32,000 of Canadian currency, and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

“Drug trafficking harms our communities in many ways,” said Cst. Andrew Devine, Red Deer RCMP GIS, in a media release. “The RCMP remain committed to disrupting these activities and removing these dangerous substances from our communities. This outcome highlights the collaborative efforts between our different units and detachments.”

Consequently, a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old man from Calgary, as well as a 26-year-old man from Chestermere, are facing charges.

The 27-year-old has been charged with three counts of trafficking a controlled substance.

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 2.

Meantime, the 21-year-old has been charged with two counts of trafficking of controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000

He was released on an Undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Apr. 30.

And the 26-year-old was charged with five counts of trafficking of controlled substances and possession of property obtained by crime greater than $5,000. He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on March 16.
