Local Mounties advise of poor driving conditions

Mar 12, 2026 | 9:03 AM

The Sylvan Lake and Blackfalds RCMP are advising the public of poor winter driving conditions.

Mounties say there’s been an increase in collisions today on the QEII, Highway 12, and Highway 2A in the Red Deer area caused by poor road conditions, as the weather has created ice patches and, at times, limited visibility.

Motorists should slow down and adjust their driving until conditions improve.

“Winter weather conditions pose challenges and safety risks for all motorists and pedestrians on our roadways,” as stated in the release. “Exercising extra caution assists all residents in arriving at their destinations safely.”
