RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating suspicious death in Ponoka County

Alberta Mounties are investigating what they believe to be a suspicious death.

On Feb. 24, 2026, at approximately 11:25 a.m., Ponoka RCMP responded to a rural residence in Ponoka County for a report of a sudden death. Upon arrival, police say a 92-year-old male was located deceased.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Mounties say an autopsy will be performed on Feb. 26, 2026, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.
