Join The Push-Up Challenge to support mental health in central Alberta

Jan 22, 2026 | 11:15 AM

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) in central Alberta has joined once again with The Push-Up Challenge for a third year.

Participants will take on a 2,000 push-up challenge across 23 days to remember and honour the roughly 2,000 lives lost daily across the globe to suicide.

The event runs Feb. 5-27 and is free, but participants are encouraged to raise as much as possible to support CMHA programming.

“One of the things I love most about The Push-Up Challenge is that it’s truly for everyone – you don’t have to do traditional push-ups to take part,” says Lynne Mulder, board chair CMHA Central Alberta region.

“I did wall push-ups, had a lot of fun, and raised funds in support of CMHA Central Alberta. It’s a great way to get moving, connect with others, and support mental health in our community. I hope more people will register and join us to help make this our strongest year yet.”

A 2024 study by The University of Melbourne found The Push-Up Challenge has had significant behavioural change on participants, including improvements in mental wellbeing, severity of depression, resilience, and social connection.
