Blood and plasma donations needed this holiday season at Red Deer donor centre

Canadian Blood Services in Red Deer needs donations this holiday season.

Donations of both blood and plasma are needed, and with recent severe weather, it increases the need, but it also makes it hard for some donors to keep appointments.

New and returning donors are encouraged to book and keep appointments, when they are safely able to travel to a donation centre or event. Many don’t realize that donor centres are open even when other activities are paused for statutory holidays, Canadian Blood Services notes.

The Red Deer Donor Centre is open on:

• December 20 — as of Dec. 19, appointments are available from 9:15 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.
• December 24 — 9:40 to 1:50
• December 26 — 9:25 to 1:55
• December 27 — 9:25 to 1:55
• December 31 – 9:35 to 1:40
