Two charged in Ponoka for alleged parking garage break-in

One person has been charged following an alleged break and enter in Ponoka.

RCMP say that on Nov. 16, members were advised of a break-in and theft from two vehicles in a local parking garage.

After reviewing surveillance footage, police were able to identify suspects. Later that day, one of the suspects was located by police, and they were arrested. Charges against that person are pending.

On Nov. 17, Ponoka RCMP located the second suspect walking in town wearing the same clothes as during the alleged break-in.

He was arrested for the theft, as well as on warrants with 43 charges out of Edmonton. Upon arrest, police found other allegedly stolen items from other thefts.

RCMP have charged a 32-year-old Ponoka resident with;

  • Breaking and entering;
  • Possession of identify documents;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2);
  • Fail to comply with release conditions (x2);
  • Possession of break-in tools.

As a result, the second suspect was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with future court dates in Ponoka.

Information on the first suspect cannot be released until their charges are sworn.
