This past week, the RDP Kings hockey team defeated the NAIT Ooks and the Queens hockey squad downed the Medicine Hat College Rattlers.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens basketball team split its weekend games.

The Kings’ basketball team fell short in both contests.

The RDP Queens volleyball team won on the road while the Kings dropped their match in Fort McMurray.

The RDP Rodeo team had several strong performances in southern Alberta.

Hockey

Queens vs. Rattlers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 31

The RDP Queens hockey team downed the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 3-2 in overtime.

Tasha Barsby, Hayley Kolosky and Jailyn Bablitz scored for the Polytechnic. Tora Ward (Bachelor of Education) made 19 saves in the Queens’ net.

Queens vs. Rattlers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, November 1

The first-place Queens (7-2) picked up a 2-1 shootout decision over the sixth seed Rattlers (1-5). Hayley Kolosky, a third-year Queens forward from Brandon, Manitoba, scored during regulation time.

Kings vs. Ooks | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 31

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings hockey team defeated the NAIT Ooks 6-3. Mason Bueckert, Tanner Sklaruk, Sean Michalevich, Nolan Doell, Deegan Mofford and Kevin Minnoch scored for RDP.

Kings at NAIT | Saturday, November 1

The first-place RDP Kings (6-0) earned a 5-4 decision over the seventh seed NAIT Ooks (0-4) in Edmonton.

Doell, Carter Cormier, Kody Willick, Alex Bernauer and Bueckart found the back of the net for the Kings.

RDP’s Ethan Farrow (Bachelor of Arts in Psychology) made 18 saves.

Volleyball

Queens at Keyano College | Friday, October 31

The Queens volleyball team (3-1) swept the Huskies (1-3) in straight sets (25-8, 25-19 and 25-15).

The RDP Kings Volleyball squad (2-2) dropped a five-set decision to the Keyano College Huskies (4-0) by scores of 17-25, 25-18, 29-27, 22-25 and 9-15 in Fort McMurray.

Basketball

Queens vs. Huskies | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 31

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team was defeated 68-63 by the Keyano College Huskies at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Mia Cunningham (Bachelor of Business Administration) recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal for the Queens.

The Queens basketball team earned a 67-37 victory over the Lakeland College Rustlers at home.

Avery Stypula, a second-year guard from Spruce Grove, led the RDP Queens with 30 points.

Kings vs. Huskies | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 31

The Keyano College Huskies got by the RDP Kings Basketball team 108-53. Garrett Cates, a six-foot-seven forward from Calgary, accumulated 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one block for the Polytechnic.

Kings vs. Rustlers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, November 1

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (0-4) lost 89-50 to the Lakeland College Rustlers (5-1) at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Both Noah Simon (Open Studies) and Marvellous Adepoju (Open Studies) scored nine points for RDP.

Rodeo

Rodeo | SAIRT Fall Rodeo | Fort Macleod | November 1-2

The RDP rodeo team had several prominent performances at the Southern Alberta College Rodeo Team (SAIRT) Rodeo in Fort Macleod.

Kaybree Zunti (15.75) finished second, and Aidyn Thomas (16.64) was 14th in Barrel Racing on Saturday. Zunti and her partner, Tray Hoffman (from Lakeland College), ranked first in Team Roping (7.4 seconds) on Saturday. Zunti (3.6) placed fourth in the Breakaway Challenge on Sunday.
