Lacombe Police Service arrests Red Deer woman following traffic stop

The Lacombe Police Service have charged a 41-year-old Red Deer woman following a traffic stop in August.

Police say the incident took place on Aug. 21 when they stopped a vehicle for a violation under the Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulations.

They pulled over the vehicle on Highway 12 near Wolf Creek Drive in Lacombe, and while speaking with the driver, police saw an open can of liquor in the vehicle.

Police then searched the vehicle under the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, and found approximately 165 grams of cocaine and over $5,000 in cash.

As a result, the woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

She is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Oct. 30, 2025.
