RDP Athletes of the Week: Oct. 17-19

Oct 21, 2025 | 1:20 PM

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Arilyn Toews (Queens hockey) and Nolan Doell (Kings hockey) as the Boston Pizza RDP Athletes of the Week:

Arilyn Toews – Queens hockey

Program – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (5th)

Hometown – Wembley, Alberta

Arilyn Toews had a strong weekend on the ice, helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens hockey team split their weekend series with the SAIT Trojans.

In Friday’s 2-1 win, the talented fifth-year forward evened the game up about halfway through the game. Then Toews scored the game-winning goal at 8:37 of the third period.

Despite the Queens dropping Saturday’s rematch 3-1, Toews put forth another good effort. Toews, a Bachelor of Science in nursing student from Wembley, sits third in ACAC goal scoring with three.

Next, Toews and the RDP Queens will play the NAIT Ooks.

Nolan Doell – Kings hockey

Program – Bachelor of Education Middle Years (4th)

Hometown – Martensville, Saskatchewan

Nolan Doell was a difference maker, helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team defeat the Briercrest College Clippers twice.

He contributed a total of five points over two games. On Friday, Doell led the Kings to a 4-3 victory, recording an assist on his team’s first goal and scoring the second marker on the power play.

In Saturday’s 6-4 win, the Bachelor of Education Middle Years student from Martensville, Saskatchewan, scored the Kings’ first, second and fourth goals to record a hat trick.

Doell, a fourth-year forward, was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

He leads the ACAC in goals (four) and points (five). This weekend, Doell and the Kings will play the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings twice.
