March 2024 Incident

Sentencing date set in Red Deer murder

Oct 21, 2025 | 12:37 PM

A sentencing date has been set for one of two people charged in a Red Deer homicide last year.

Lance Michael Bilsky, 47, of Red Deer, is scheduled for sentencing in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench on Jan. 14, 2026.

Bilsky’s co-accused, Corey Duane Archer, 48, of Red Deer, is scheduled for trial in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench from April 13-24, 2026.

RCMP say that on March 21, 2024, at 3:51 p.m., members received a report of a shooting that had allegedly occurred at an apartment building along Parke Avenue on Red Deer’s north end in the Pines neighbourhood.

When officers arrived, a suspect was observed running from the area, police say.

After a short pursuit on foot, the male was arrested, and police say they seized a firearm.

A second male suspect was also located near the scene and arrested.

Other officers arriving on scene located a deceased person, later identified as 54-year-old resident Jason Cory Worobec.

RCMP charged Lance Bilsky, and Corey Archer. Bilsky was charged with second-degree murder while Archer was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Both Bilsky and Archer were taken before a justice of the Peace and remanded into custody.
