Oct 10, 2025 | 7:36 AM

Two people, including a 34-year-old man from Calgary, and a 34-year-old woman from Athabasca, are facing numerous charges following an incident in Lacombe late last month.

Lacombe Police says it was about 2 a.m. on Sept. 23 when an officer on proactive patrol observed a red Ducati motorbike with no plate, travelling at a high rate of speed, westbound on Highway 12 near the QEII Highway.

The officer followed as the bike entered the Wild Rose Commercial Park.

“When the officer activated emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop, the motorbike fled at high speed, crashing through a chain link fence in an attempt to evade police,” LPS says.

“The suspects continued south through a field until the motorbike became stuck at the edge of a small pond. The male driver and female passenger abandoned the bike and fled on foot.”

The suspects were pursued, and arrested a short time later.

A records check confirmed the motorbike had been reported stolen out of Calgary, and had allegedly fled from Ponoka RCMP 30 minutes prior.

During the arrest, officers seized:

• 276g of Methamphetamine

• 27g of Cocaine

• Switch Blade (prohibited weapon)

• Replica Handgun

• Break-In Tools

The Calgary man also suffered minor injuries in the incident and was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital.

The man is facing nine charges including mischief endangering life; the woman is facing five charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
