Sep 29, 2025 | 1:29 PM

Red Deerians looking to gain more insight on candidates ahead of the election on Oct. 20 can do so Tuesday night at the Red Deer Municipal Election Candidate Forum.

Hosted by the Woodlea, Waskasoo, and Parkvale Community Associations, the forum will focus on development and community engagement.

Moderated by Monica Morrison, the free event will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Festival Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

According to a Facebook post by the Parkvale Community Association, candidates will discuss topics such as housing affordability, the relationship between council and citizens, the Housing Accelerator Grant items that are still on the table, their visions for Red Deer’s growth over the next decade, and more.

Each candidate will be given an opportunity to answer one of six pre-determined questions, followed by an open mic session for follow-up questions. There will also be time to speak informally with the candidates at the end.

In total, 62 candidates are running in the municipal and school board elections, including five running for mayor, 24 for council, 14 for public school trustee, and 19 for catholic school trustee.
