Red Deer’s Eileen Park and her compatriots of Team Canada ‘2’ placed a respectable sixth at this week’s 2025 World Junior Girls Golf Championship — the second team’s best finish ever at the tournament.

Taking place in St. Catharines, Ontario at the local golf and country club, the field featured two Canadian teams consisting of three junior players each

The championship was ultimately won by Republic of Korea who finished an impressive combined 20-under par.

Canada 1 placed second at 13-under, followed by Spain (-13), France (-9), England (-9) and Park’s Canada 2 (-8). Seventeen other countries were represented, including the United States, which finished in 11th at +3.

In the individual standings, Park was the Canadian to finish the furthest back, but the 16-year-old saved her best for last.

Park shot an even par 72 in round four, after firing a 75, 78 and 74. She finished T40th in the individual standings at +11, with her final round score keeping Canada 2 afloat in sixth.

This week, Park is competing in the NextGen Selection Camp, running concurrently with the Women’s Canadian Collegiate Invitational. Park is already a member of the NextGen team, so is competing to maintain her spot.
