Government urging Alberta teachers to return to bargaining table

Sep 9, 2025 | 10:09 AM

The Alberta government is urging teachers to get back to the bargaining table to get out of an ongoing stalemate.

Finance Minister Nate Horner is encouraging teachers to take a closer look at the latest offer, one he says is fair and shows respect for teachers.

But the teachers union says the province needs to move beyond reiterating a deal that teachers have already rejected.

Alberta Teachers’ Association president Jason Schilling says the government needs to take teachers’ concerns about classroom conditions and salary seriously.
