Red Deer motorcyclist killed in Friday night collision

A collision on Friday night between a pick-up truck and a motorcycle claimed the life of a 27-year-old Red Deer resident.

Red Deer RCMP responded to the collision on Aug. 22 at 9:54 p.m., which took place at 77 Street and Keast Way.

The individual who died at the scene was the driver of the motorcycle.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old female passenger from Springbrook suffered serious injuries and was taken to an Edmonton hospital by STARS. The driver of the truck had minor injuries.

77 Street between Taylor Drive and Gaetz Avenue was closed for several hours while crews were on scene.

The RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and police say the investigation is ongoing.

As of Monday, charges have not been laid, but police say the initial investigation revealed speed may have been a factor in the collision.
