Red Deer city councillor Victor Doerksen running for mayor in municipal election
Red Deer city councillor Victor Doerksen has filed his notice of intent to run for mayor of the City of Red Deer in the 2025 Election.
He will now focus on putting together an election team and his campaign strategy ahead of the election in October as well as getting signatures to support his nomination on top of fundraising.
“The City of Red Deer is going through a period of refocusing its efforts to get its financial house in order; to grow its economy; and to turn the tide of social disorder,” Doerksen said in a media release. “I offer Red Deer citizens a sensible choice to consider in leading our city in a positive direction.”
Doerksen has served on both city council and provincial legislature and has a background in non-profit management and board leadership, banking, and business management. The release also indicates he had a strong financial and organizational skillset and will lead with integrity, humility, and honesty.
