RDCRS approves 2025-28 education plan and 2025-26 budget

Jun 12, 2025 | 11:18 AM

The Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools board of trustees has approved the 2025-28 education plan and the 2025-26 division budget.

The Education plan was designed on four outcomes including faith; advancing educational learning opportunities for all students; providing learning experiences that empower students and prepare them for the future; and fostering holistic well-being for students and staff.

Officials say these outcomes are supported by key strategies as well as goals to help them reach each one.

The plan was designed through stakeholder engagement at both the division and school levels. They did this by gathering data through committees, conversations, activities, consultations, and surveys.

The Board of Trustees approved the 2025–2026 Division Budget, which reflects a balanced financial plan.

According to the budgeted statement of operations, they’ll have $120,377,557 in expenses and have the same amount in incoming revenue.

The Secretary-Treasurer presented the budget, which they say is enrolment driven. Staffing salaries remain the largest expense and administrative expenses are higher this year due to upcoming election costs.

The budget reflects priorities identified through recent stakeholder engagement sessions, with a focus on strengthening inclusive learning supports across the division, such as ensuring every school has a designated fulltime counsellor and a full-time inclusive learning teacher.
