“This is another tragic and senseless loss of a four nations community member. There is a direct relationship between this death and illegal firearms in Maskwacis. “During our meetings with the Chiefs and Counsels of all 4 Nations of Maskwacis, illegal guns and gun violence are a serious concern and one they want combatted. It’s important that residents know they will have our full cooperation and support. If you know of the existence of illegal guns, there are ways to reach out to us safely, call us.”

Alberta RCMP Media Relations Manager Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told rdnewsNOW no arrests have been made and police believe it was a targeted attack.

“I don’t think there’s a larger risk to the average person in the community,” he said. “We’ve called in Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit and they’re on scene in Maskwacis actively investigating this file.”
