RDES respond to ‘suspicious’ fire Sunday in Red Deer’s Edgar area

Mar 24, 2025 | 10:45 AM

Red Deer Emergency Services responded to a fire Sunday afternoon in the Edgar Industrial area.

Crews responded at about 5:20 p.m., as black smoke could be seen from some distance.

Deputy Chief Curtis Schaefer says upon arrival at 7240/7280 Johnston Drive, the Nossack and Gentek Building properties, members discovered a number of wooden pallets on fire. The pallets were piled against the back of one of the buildings.

The fire damaged the building’s exterior siding and some insulation.

There were no injuries, and no one could be found on-site.

Fire investigators are looking into the exact cause, but it has, for the time being, been deemed suspicious.

Three engines, a ladder truck and command vehicles responded.
