Habitat for Humanity Red Deer volunteer awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal

Habitat for Humanity Red Deer volunteer Michelle Doucette has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

Habitat for Humanity Red Deer CEO Karen Vavrek, presented Doucette with the commemorative medal for her commitment to community service in early February.

This medal recognizes individuals who’ve made a contributions to improve their communities across the country.

“Michelle joined our Board of Directors last year, and immediately embraced the mission of Habitat for Humanity through her actions of service,” says Karen Vavrek, CEO of Habitat Red Deer.

“Everything she does is done with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to serve others, whether it’s helping to build homes, serving on Board committees, or assisting with fundraising. She is a great role model for volunteers and leaders of non-profit organizations – we are so fortunate to have her on our team.”

Some of Doucette’s biggest accomplishments to help improve her community includes her volunteer work on their build-site for teamBUILD days. She is also one of the organization’s hope-builder monthly donors, and is a dedicated board member.

Her passion for helping others and her unwavering spirit of volunteerism continues to make a lasting impact on the Red Deer community.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal, was created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation. Volunteers in communities across Canada were recognized for their hard work and dedication.

Doucette received the medal at the Habitat Red Deer Admin Office on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Habitat Red Deer staff and Board of Directors Chair Darrin Steinke were in attendance, showing their support and appreciation for Michelle’s contributions.

Habitat for Humanity Red Deer is a registered charitable organization dedicated to helping Central Alberta families build better lives through affordable homeownership. Habitat for Humanity Red Deer builds homes in partnership with qualifying low-income, working families through a no-down-payment, interest-free mortgage program. Habitat for Humanity Red Deer has been active in Central Alberta since 1994 and has since built 50 homes in Central Alberta with the help of dedicated donors and volunteers.
