Innisfail RCMP charge two following drug seizure

Innisfail RCMP have charged two people following a recent drug seizure.

It was just after 3 a.m. on Feb. 27 when Mounties stopped a red Ford F150 on Hwy 2A.

During said stop, officers developed grounds to arrest the driver and passenger, under the Excise Act, for possession of unstamped cigarettes.

During a search of the driver, members allegedly discovered a Taser, which is a prohibited weapon.

A vehicle search also yielded the following:

  • Cocaine including cocaine individually packaged for sale;
  • Fentanyl;
  • Oxycodone pills;
  • Small amount of Canadian currency;
  • Other items related to the sale of cocaine;
  • Illegal unstamped tobacco.

A 40-year-old male resident of Red Deer County has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Fentanyl;
  • Possession of Oxycodone;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • Fail to comply with release conditions;
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco contrary to the Excise Act.

A 27-year-old female resident of Sylvan Lake has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of Fentanyl;
  • Possession of Oxycodone;
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco contrary to the Excise Act.

Both were taken before a Justice of the Peace and were released with conditions. Their next court dates are set for March 27, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
