Eight-year sentence for man convicted in central Alberta homicide
It’s eight years in jail for a man charged in a central Alberta homicide two-and-a-half years ago.
Kieran Keith Lightning, 22, was sentenced in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench on Feb. 25, 2025, and was also given a firearm prohibition after being convicted on one count of manslaughter/use of firearm.
Lightning was originally charged with second-degree murder in relation to a homicide on Samson Cree Nation on Sept. 9, 2022.
Mounties identified the deceased as 22-year-old Jordie Buffalo-Crier, a resident of Samson Cree Nation.
