Red Deer RCMP arrest three following drug trafficking investigation

The Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team arrested three residents on Feb. 12, following a drug trafficking investigation.

This came after police executed search warrants at businesses in the downtown and South Hill neighbourhoods and at a residence in the Highland Green neighbourhood.

Mounties say they seized over $55,000 in Canadian currency, 1.1 kilograms of cocaine, 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine, six grams of fentanyl, and 51 oxycodone tablets.

Police say they also seized items used in the trafficking of controlled substances and in addition, seized more than 6,000 unstamped cigarettes, ammunition, a handgun, two shotguns, and four rifles.

As a result, a 37-year-old man, 59-year-old woman, and 22-year-old woman, all from Red Deer, are facing multiple charges.

The male suspect was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2
  • Fail to comply with conditional sentence order
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Unsafe storage of firearms
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of weapon with ammo without licence x2
  • Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Fraud less than or equal to $5000
  • Selling tobacco products
  • Weapons possession contrary to order

RCMP say he was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

The 59-year-old female suspect was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Unsafe storage of firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of weapon with ammo without licence x2
  • Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime

The 22-year-old female suspect was charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x2

  • Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of weapon with ammo without licence x2
  • Tampering with serial number of firearm
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime
  • Fraud less than or equal to $5000
