Feb 25, 2025 | 12:13 PM

New trial dates have been scheduled for a Rimbey, AB, man charged in a homicide in Brazeau County over two years ago.

Shane Allen Marshall, 39, is scheduled for a jury trial in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench from Sept. 15-25, 2025. He was previously scheduled for a jury trial in Wetaskiwin from Feb. 3-14, 2025. However, according to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), Marshall applied for an adjournment of the trial and it was granted by the court.

Marshall faces one count of second-degree murder.

A second charge of threats cause death/bodily harm was dismissed in Red Deer Court of Justice on Jan. 17, 2023, after initially being scheduled for trial on that charge on that day.

It was on Oct. 17, 2022, when Breton RCMP received a report requesting a welfare check on a male at a rural property in Brazeau County. Upon arrival, officers spoke to and arrested a male on outstanding warrants.

After conducting a search of the property, RCMP located a deceased male. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in to investigate.

The deceased was identified as 67-year-old Robert Charles Marshall, a resident of Brazeau County.

On Oct. 19, 2022, Mounties say an autopsy was conducted by the medical examiner who determined the manner of death to be homicide.
