New family doctor now practising in Red Deer

Newly recruited family physician Dr. Ghafoor Ahmad is now practising in Red Deer.

He is currently working out of Easthill Medical Clinic in Red Deer and provides hospitalist and long-term care coverage at the Red Deer Regional Health Centre.

“This is the city where my three kids graduated from high school and went on university, so I value it very much,” he said.

Dr. Ahmad got his medical education in Pakistan but has worked in Red Deer as a sonographer since 2009. In his free time, he loves gardening and reading history books.

With Dr. Ahmad joining the team at Easthill Medical Clinic, there are now six physicians who practise at that location.

“Family doctors are vital to the health of Alberta families and communities,” said Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health and MLA for Red Deer-North. “The addition of physicians like Dr. Ahmad helps ensure timely access to services for people in our community and beyond.”

“Red Deer is the third largest city in the best province in Canada,” added Jason Stephan, MLA for Red Deer-South. “It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community.”
