Innisfail Eagles red hot heading into NCHL playoffs

The Innisfail Eagles are heading into the North Central Senior AA Hockey League (NCHL) playoffs on a high note.

They finished the regular season winning five of their last six games to secure third place in the standings with an 11-4-0-0-1 record.

They’ll take on the sixth-seeded Devon Barons in the best-of-five quarter-final matchup that begins this Friday in Devon at 8 p.m.

They’ll then return home for Games 2 and 3 on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 14 with a game time yet to be determined.

If needed, Game 4 will take place on Saturday, Feb. 15 in Devon at 8 p.m. and Game 5 on Sunday, Feb. 16 in Innisfail at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets for the games in Innisfail will be made available at the door.

Some of the other playoff matchups include the first seeded Lacombe Generals taking on the eighth seeded Westlock Warriors, the second seeded Wetaskiwin Longhorns will face the seventh-seeded Bonnyville Pontiacs, and the fourth-seeded Stony Plain Eagles will go up against the fifth-seeded Camrose Bruins.

Following the opening round, just four teams will move on to the semifinals followed by Vanberg Cup Finals to determine the league champion.
