Blackfalds to host the 2026 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship

This past summer, teams from across Canada including Quebec, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, and Manitoba competed for the national title in Blackfalds. Softball Canada estimated approximately 800 to 1,000 spectators came out to Sterling Sports Park to watch the tournament.

The N. Jensen’s Bandits out of Red Deer represented the community in the tournament and finished fifth after falling to the Oromocto Silverbacks from New Brunswick in their lone playoff game.

The Carnduff Southeast Steelers from Saskatchewan were crowned the national champions after defeating Ontario’s Oakville Angels 6-3.

The 2025 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship will be held in Saskatoon, Sask.

“I am beyond excited that we are once again the host community for this championship. The 2024 tournament was fantastic, and the Red Deer Ladies Fastball Association who were the host team put on an event that exceeded my expectations. Right from the high-spirited opening ceremony to the nail-biting games, it was an event not to miss,” said Blackfalds Mayor Jamie Hoover.

“I have heard so much feedback on how great the facility was, and how welcoming our community was, and I have to say that everyone who helped make this tournament happen, made me proud to be a part of it, and I have no doubt that Softball Canada made the right choice to bring it back for 2026. I look forward to once again welcoming these elite athletes from across Canada to Blackfalds, these players and coaches demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship and passion for their sport.”
