Red Deer Minor Baseball’s 13U, 15U and 18U AAA squads are all competing at the elite level this weekend.

The 13U and 15U Braves are at the Western Canada Championships in Winnipeg, and the 18U club is at St. John’s for the National Championship.

The 13Us and 15Us both recently won silver at provincials to qualify for Westerns, while the 18Us captured gold at provincials in St. Albert last month.

The 13U team is set to play against teams from Northshore, Pembina Hills and Saskatoon ahead of the medal round.

The 15Us will face teams from Winnipeg, Bonvital, Saskatoon and Abbotsford.

Representing Alberta, the 18U team won their first game at nationals on Thursday, 6-3 over Manitoba.

They play Friday vs. Newfoundland and vs. Nova Scotia. They then play Saturday against Newfoundland again, ahead of the knockout round.

Medal games go on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier this month, the Castor Raiders 22U team competed at Westerns in Elmwood, MB, winning twice against Prince Albert and Diefenbaker, and losing to host Elmwood as well as a team from Carillon, MB.
