According to the most recent Alberta Recreation Survey Report in 2022, nearly all individuals and households in the province participated in some form of recreation, with walking, hiking, and camping, as the most popular choices, most often done in provincial and national parks in Alberta.

While 81 per cent of Albertans connected with nature recreationally in 2017, 2022 saw 86 per cent, with increases in swimming, fishing, canoeing/kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, hiking, and camping.

According to Statistics Canada’s Households and the Environment Survey in 2021, 78 per cent of households in Canada reported participating in outdoor activities close to home, an increase from 77 in 2019 and 75 per cent in 2011. One fifth of Canadian households went to a swimming pool or to the beach, surfed, scuba-dived, or snorkelled close to home and 12 per cent boated, sailed, canoed, kayaked, rafted, rowed, dragon boated or jet-skied on water.

With March as Fraud Prevention Month, show officials have shared on their website that vendors have recently been targeted through the exhibitor list of scam attempts, with fraudsters trying to sell false attendance data. Vendors are being cautioned to not make any purchases as the calls are a scam.

Show times are from 4 – 9 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $15 for adults, $10 for those aged 12 and over, $13 for seniors over 65, and free for kids 11 years and under.
