Wolf Creek bus drivers receive proactive student-focused professional development
Bus drivers in Wolf Creek Public Schools have been given more insight into the social and emotional needs of students.
District officials say the professional development was part of a training session on Nov. 24, which focused on key themes from the SIVA (Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments) program. Officials say the training emphasized the importance of equipping staff who work closely with students with the necessary tools to address their social and emotional needs.
Wolf Creek officials say SIVA’s goal is to create a safe, respectful, and healthy environment through effective communication and the establishment of trusted relationships. They further point out, the training provided bus drivers with proactive tools and practical knowledge, underlining the significance of consistency and predictability in interactions, and the impact of proactive and supportive approaches.
“The SIVA training for our bus drivers was an essential step towards enhancing our student support system,” said Betty Clark, WCPS Transportation Manager.
